Pohela Boishakh Sydney Olympic Park
In Australia, the Bengali New Year is celebrated in various cities such as Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra through Boishakhi Melas (fairs) where people gather to celebrate the Bengali culture through dances, fashion shows, stalls for art, music, clothes, food, etc. Pohela Boishakh in Sydney is celebrating from many years ago.
However, the biggest celebration of Bengali new Year in Australia is the Sydney Boishakhi Mela, which is traditionally held in the Burwood girls high School, but since 2006 has held at Sydney Olympic Park. It attracts large crowds and is a highly anticipated event in the calendar of the Bengali community in Australia. In Sydney Olympic Park there will be arranged a Boishakhi Fair in Sydney Olympic Park.
